SiteGround vs Kinsta (2026)
A promo-priced managed shared host against a premium managed WordPress host with no teaser rates. Which one is worth it depends on what the site earns and how much you value hands-off hosting.

|---|---|---|
| Entry price | $2.99/mo for the first 12 months (StartUp), renews at $17.99/mo | $35/mo monthly ($30/mo billed annually, $350/yr) |
| Renewal | StartUp $17.99, GrowBig $29.99, GoGeek $44.99 per month on 12-month renewal (SiteGround KB, updated Oct 12, 2026) | Same rate (no teaser pricing); first month free on WP 2 at time of checking |
| Sites on entry plan | 1 site, 10 GB (StartUp) | WP 2 plan; ladder up to 40+ installs |

Price over three years
SiteGround's StartUp plan is $2.99/mo (first year) for the first year, then $17.99/mo on a 12-month renewal per its own published rates. Over three years that's roughly $36 + $216 + $216 = about $468. Kinsta's WP 2 plan at $30/mo billed annually is $350 a year, about $1,050 over three years, with no step-up after year one.
So SiteGround is cheaper for a single small site, by a lot. The gap narrows if you need staging and on-demand backups (GrowBig, $29.99/mo on renewal) or several sites, and it reverses in Kinsta's favour only when the value of fewer problems, faster uncached pages and support for a revenue-generating site outweighs a few hundred dollars a year.
What you get for the money
SiteGround
- Free SSL, CDN, daily backups and email on every plan.
- Staging and on-demand backups from GrowBig; Git and priority support on GoGeek.
- Suggested capacity of about 10k monthly visits on StartUp and 100k on GrowBig.
- Its own Site Tools dashboard and SiteGround Optimizer plugin.
Kinsta
- Transparent pricing: the listed monthly price is the ongoing price, with no 3-year teaser rate.
- Ladder of plans from 1 to 40+ WordPress installs (WP 2: $35, WP 5: $50, WP 10: $90, WP 20: $170, WP 40: $290 per month billed monthly).
- Unlimited free migrations and 24/7 human support in 8 languages, per Kinsta's pricing page.
- Add-ons cost extra, for example +1 site at $30/mo or +20 GB disk at $20/mo.
Data centres and where your site lives
Both run on Google Cloud. SiteGround offers 11 data centres: Ashburn, Council Bluffs, Dallas and Los Angeles in the US; London, Madrid, Eemshaven, Frankfurt and Paris in Europe; plus Singapore and Sydney. Its backups are stored in a different location from the live site (for example, Iowa sites are backed up in Virginia). Kinsta lets you pick a Google Cloud region per site, which includes Canadian regions; see best WordPress hosting in Canada if that matters to you.
Performance
We haven't run our own load tests yet (see our methodology). The independent evidence is thin for both in recent years: SiteGround earned Top Tier in Review Signal's 2020 $25–50/month benchmark. That is a 2020 result on a specific plan, not a current guarantee. Kinsta is not among the 2026 Top Tier hosts listed in the independent WordPress Hosting Performance Benchmarks (2026 overview we reviewed). That is not evidence of poor performance; many hosts simply don't enter. Treat any single-page speed test in a review with caution.
Who should pick which
- You run one small site and want email included
- Year-one cost matters
- Daily backups on the cheapest plan matter to you
- The site earns money and downtime costs you
- You want flat, predictable pricing with no renewal jump
- You manage several sites, or need a specific region
FAQ
Is Kinsta worth it over SiteGround for a blog?
For a hobby blog, usually not. For a blog that earns meaningful ad or affiliate income with a lot of traffic, the steadier performance and support can be worth it.
Can I move from SiteGround to Kinsta later?
Yes. Kinsta lists unlimited free migrations on its pricing page. Move before your SiteGround renewal date to avoid paying the higher rate.
