SiteGround review: who it's for, what it really costs
Managed shared WordPress hosting on Google Cloud.
Our verdict: A good fit for small businesses that want managed features (staging, daily backups, email) at a mid-range price. Skip it if you need to stay under $10/month beyond year one.
Pricing
| Entry price | $2.99/mo for the first 12 months (StartUp), renews at $17.99/mo |
|---|---|
| Renewal / ongoing | StartUp $17.99, GrowBig $29.99, GoGeek $44.99 per month on 12-month renewal (SiteGround KB, updated Oct 12, 2026) |
Strengths
- SiteGround publishes its regular (renewal) rates in its knowledge base, which is unusually transparent.
- Free SSL, CDN, daily backups and email on every plan.
- GrowBig and up add staging and on-demand backups; GoGeek adds Git and priority support.
- 30-day money-back guarantee on new shared hosting orders.
Drawbacks
- Renewal is about 6x the first-year price.
- StartUp is limited to one site and 10 GB.
- Suggested capacity is ~10k monthly visits on StartUp and ~100k on GrowBig.
Performance and uptime: what public data says
SiteGround earned Top Tier in Review Signal's 2020 $25–50/month benchmark. That is a 2020 result on a specific plan, not a current guarantee.
