The cheapest managed WordPress hosting (2026), ranked by real cost

"Cheap" depends on whether you look at month one or year three. We rank by the price you'll actually pay after the promo ends.

Prices and specs checked on the providers' own pages on November 1, 2026. This page is research-based: we have not yet run our own hands-on speed or support tests. See our methodology.

Short answer: Lowest multi-year cost: Hostinger (with a long prepay). Cheapest with no lock-in: Cloudways, billed hourly. Cheapest premium host with no teaser pricing: Kinsta. Best value mid-range: SiteGround GrowBig.

What counts as "managed" WordPress hosting?

Managed means the host handles the WordPress-specific work: server-level caching, automatic core updates, daily backups, malware scanning, staging and WordPress-trained support. Pure budget shared hosting may do some of this. True managed hosts do all of it and usually limit or forbid conflicting plugins. Everything below includes at least automatic backups, free SSL and caching.

The picks, explained

1. Cloudways: cheapest with no lock-in

From about $11 a month on a small DigitalOcean server, billed hourly, with unlimited sites per server as resources allow. You get managed server software, backups and staging, but you choose the server size and email costs extra. It's the best deal for anyone comfortable with a little more control. Cloudways review.

2. Hostinger: lowest total if you prepay

Hostinger's WordPress plans include automatic updates, LiteSpeed caching and a 30-day refund window. Prepaying four years makes the monthly cost tiny; the catch is the large upfront bill and a renewal roughly four times the intro. See how it compares with SiteGround.

3. SiteGround: best value mid-range

GrowBig adds staging and on-demand backups, and SiteGround publishes its renewal rates openly, so there are no surprises. Year one is cheap; from year two you're paying managed-host money, so compare it honestly with Cloudways. SiteGround review.

4. WP Engine and Kinsta: cheapest premium options

If you want fully hands-off hosting with strong support, WP Engine's Essential plan and Kinsta's WP 2 are the entry points. Kinsta's listed price doesn't jump at renewal, which makes it more affordable than it looks over three years. Kinsta vs WP Engine.

How to avoid overpaying

  1. Compare three-year totals, not monthly promos.
  2. Check what's an add-on: email, extra sites, offsite backups and CDN bandwidth.
  3. Watch the visit caps. Entry plans often suggest roughly 10k–25k visits per month; overages can push you to the next tier.
  4. Use the refund window. Migrate a copy of your site, test speed and support, and cancel inside 30 days if it disappoints.
  5. Canada or EU audience? Factor in data-centre location; see best WordPress hosting in Canada.

FAQ

Is $3/month WordPress hosting really managed?

Partly. Budget plans now include automatic updates and caching, but backups, staging and support depth are usually limited to higher tiers.

What's the cheapest host for multiple sites?

Cloudways, because one server can run several sites. Per-site managed hosts like Kinsta charge per install.
