How we research and rank hosts
Short version: we only state what we can source, and we tell you what we haven't tested.
What we do today
- Pricing from the source. We read each provider's own pricing pages and record the entry price, the prepay term it requires, and the renewal price, with the date checked.
- Independent performance data. We cite third-party benchmarks such as WordPress Hosting Performance Benchmarks (Review Signal), including the year and plan tier, because results don't carry across years or plans.
- Uptime from public status pages. We link each host's status page instead of inventing uptime numbers.
- Fine print. We read refund policies and terms and flag anything that costs you money later.
What we haven't done yet
We have not run our own hands-on speed, uptime or support tests. We won't publish test numbers until we do. When we start, we'll buy plans with our own money, publish the test setup, and date every result.
How money fits in
We earn affiliate commissions from some hosts (see our disclosure). Rankings are based on fit for each use case, decided before commission rates are considered. Hosts can't pay for placement, and we list drawbacks for every host.
